The Poss Family Foundation Story

Your Donation

The talented doctors John’s Hopkins’ Dr. John L. Cameron and UMBGCC’s Dr. Jiang gave Billy the opportunity to cling to faith in beating pancreatic cancer and to further serve as a soundboard for those affected. We understand the importance of top end research in saving lives, and the importance of personal support through the process.

Your donation goes directly towards pancreatic cancer research and to The Hope Lodge— a service that houses patients and families so they can get the treatment they need from the best doctors in the world. Please consider contributing or reach out to understand more about our mission.

John L. Cameron, MD

John’s Hopkins, Director of the Department of Surgery
Preformed Billy’s Whipple Surgery

Sydney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center

Dr. Cameron has had a long and distinguished career in alimentary tract diseases and specifically in pancreatic cancer. He has won worldwide acclaim for mastering the Whipple procedure. At the beginning of his career, the mortality rate from the Whipple procedure was nearly 30 percent. He has worked to lower that to 1 percent to 2 percent at Johns Hopkins. He has operated on more patients with pancreatic cancer and done more Whipple resections than any other surgeon in the world. In addition to maintaining a busy practice that focuses mainly on pancreatic surgery, he has been a leader in the surgical profession, serving as president of the American College of Surgeons, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Southern Surgical Association, Society of Clinical Surgery, Society of Surgical Chairmen, Halsted Society and American Surgical Association. He served as chief of surgery for The Johns Hopkins Hospital for nineteen years.

The Poss Family Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer was founded by Billy Poss following his battle through pancreatic cancer. Having seen the way pancreatic cancer tests its patients and their loved ones physically, emotionally, and spiritually– our mission is to support those affected by pancreatic cancer through council and funding top-end pancreatic cancer research. The Poss Family Foundation is here to ensure that no matter your circumstances, no one fights alone

Our goal is to serve as a resource that allows those affected by pancreatic cancer to focus on treatment and healing. If you or someone you love has been touched by pancreatic cancer, consider us a shoulder to lean on for those in need of hope. The Poss Family Foundation is committed to ensuring that 100% of direct donations go towards beating pancreatic cancer.
